Album: Paramaribo

The first week I explored Paramaribo itself and made a trip to the former plantations in the neighbourhood of the city.

Album: Awarradam

In the second week I stayed for 5 days in Awarradam, a small lodge near some traditional villages inhabited by Maroons (descendants of run away slaves). The only way to visit Awarradam is using a plane. I swam together with alligators and piranhas.

Album: Galibi

After Awarradam I stayed in the traditional Carib Indian village Galibi for 3 days. The only way to visit Galibi is using a boat. In Galibi we saw giant sea turtles laying egs. We crossed the Marowijne River and visited French Guyana.
